Sri Appagaru was married to a beautiful lady Ms. Shakunthala when he was only 18 years of age as the custom of performing marriages at an early age was prevalent in those days. He had 2 sons and 2 daughters who died in their childhood. The last child 11 months old, Sri Man Mohan Rao breathed his last after having been cursed by his own father. It happened like this.

A disciple of Sri Appagaru who used to live in his house, one day accidentally dropped a small saucer like shell (outer shell of pearl oyster) containing herbal potion meant for the child, Sri Man Mohan Rao. Then Smt. Shakuntala mother of the child became very angry and started abusing the disciple for her carelessness. As the scoldings were unabated even after one hour, Sri Appagaru became very angry and said “you are scolding the poor girl for the sake of the child,if the boy is not there……” meaning that the episode would not have taken place. Within 3 days the boy became seriously ill and died.
